Based on a memorandum of understanding between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany, this program provides tailored hands-on support and matching opportunities with local experts and public institutions for Tokyo-based companies aiming to establish a presence or expand their business into NRW—one of Europe’s largest economic regions.
NRW is well known for its vibrant life sciences network and strong collaboration between universities, research institutes, and industry. LIFESCAPES Inc. is pleased to announce that we will be presenting at “Keidanren Innovation Crossing (KIX),” a startup pitch event hosted by the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) on Tuesday, November 10, 2026.
“KIX” is a regular pitch event held since October 2019, aimed at promoting open innovation and collaboration between large enterprises and startups. It provides a platform for presenting business developments, discussing potential partnerships, and networking directly with decision-makers (executives and department heads) of major corporations.
On the day of the event, we will present our medical devices for neurorehabilitation, which utilize BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) technology combining neuroscience and AI. 医療機器やデジタルヘルス製品を米国で事業化するためには、FDA承認に向けた規制対応に加え、保険償還や医療機関での導入を見据え、製品の安全性・有効性、臨床的有用性、費用対効果等を示すエビデンスの構築が重要です。日本国内の臨床データだけでは、米国の患者集団や医療環境における有用性を十分に示せない場合もあるため、開発の早期段階から、現地の医療機関や専門家と連携して必要なデータを取得・検証することが求められます。

LIFESCAPES Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been selected to participate in the “J-StarX Medical Data Utilization Program,” organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

About the J-StarX Medical Data Utilization Program
To commercialize medical devices and digital health products in the United States, building robust clinical evidence that demonstrates product safety, efficacy, clinical utility, and cost-effectiveness is critical—not only for FDA regulatory clearance, but also for insurance reimbursement and adoption by healthcare institutions. Because domestic clinical data from Japan alone may not fully demonstrate utility within the U.S. patient population and healthcare environment, acquiring and validating necessary data in collaboration with local medical institutions and experts from an early stage of development is essential.
Supported by METI, JETRO’s “J-StarX Medical Data Utilization Program” assists Japanese medical startups in building the clinical evidence required to enter the U.S. market, while fostering network creation with medical institutions, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), regulatory and reimbursement experts, and investors.

J-StarX UK HealthTech Launchpadについて
「J-StarX」は経済産業省とジェトロが主導し、世界の起業家エコシステムとのネットワークを構築することで、グローバルに活躍する起業家の育成を目指すプログラムです。今回LIFESCAPESが採択された「UK HealthTech Launchpad」は、世界的なヘルスケア・メドテックの拠点である英国・欧州市場を目指すスタートアップを対象に、英国の医療制度・規制理解から現地パートナー獲得、実証・社会実装までを支援するプログラムです。
本プログラムは、King’s College LondonのSt Thomas’ Hospitalキャンパス内に拠点を置く「London Institute for Healthcare Engineering（LIHE）」と連携して実施されます。英国有数の医療工学・臨床研究拠点であるLIHEが有するNHS（英国国民保健サービス）、研究者、臨床医、事業人材等のネットワークを活用し、英国市場参入に向けた実践的な伴走支援を受けます。英国市場理解を深めるフェーズ1（2026年7月～10月）と、現地規制・臨床・市場参入を具体化するフェーズ2（2026年11月～2027年3月）の二段階で構成され、LIFESCAPESはフェーズ１に採択されました。

LIFESCAPES Selected for JETRO’s “J-StarX UK HealthTech Launchpad” Program

We are pleased to announce that LIFESCAPES has been selected as one of five startups for Phase 1 of the “J-StarX UK HealthTech Launchpad” program, organized by JETRO with support from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). J-StarX is a government-backed initiative aimed at fostering globally competitive startups. This specific program supports Japanese MedTech innovators in expanding into the UK and European markets. Partnering with the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) at King’s College London, LIFESCAPES will gain access to LIHE’s extensive network—including the NHS (National Health Service), clinical researchers, and business experts.
