このたび、株式会社LIFESCAPES（東京都港区、代表取締役社長：林 正彬、以下LIFESCAPES）は、公益財団法人PwC財団（東京都千代田区、代表理事：日向 昭人、以下PwC財団）の「助成事業2026年度春期人間拡張（リハビリテーション高度化）」において、助成先として採択されたことをお知らせいたします。

助成事業2026年度春期人間拡張（リハビリテーション高度化）の目的

◆内容
脳科学やロボティクスなどの先端テクノロジーを活用して、身体機能が制限された人々の身体機能を自身の意思で身の回りのことができる状態まで回復させることを目的としています。日本が直面する超高齢社会において、疾患や不慮の事故等による身体機能制限は、当事者の生活の質を低下させ、現役世代の介護離職や社会保障費の増大といった深刻な日本の社会課題と直結しています。先端テクノロジーの社会実装を加速させ、社会全体のケアの質を底上げすることを目指します。

◆事業概要・目的
主に脳卒中後の麻痺がある方を対象に、医療機関外でも使用可能なポータブルBrain-Computer Interface （BCI）※を活用し、脳活動の計測およびフィードバックを行うことで、在宅環境でも継続可能なリハビリテーション運用モデルの実装を検証します。本取組みにより、医療機関や専門人材に依存せずにリハビリテーションを継続できる体制を整え、回復機会の拡張と身体機能回復の実現を目指します。

※BCI：Brain-Computer Interfaceの略で、脳の信号を直接コンピュータに伝え、情報をやり取りする技術。

Verification of a BCI-Based Chronic Phase Support Model for Individuals with Paralysis Selected for the PwC Foundation Spring 2026 Grant Program

LIFESCAPES Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masaaki Hayashi; hereinafter “LIFESCAPES”) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a grant recipient for the “Spring 2026 Grant Program: Human Augmentation (Advanced Rehabilitation)” organized by the PwC Foundation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Akito Hyuga).

◆Purpose of the Spring 2026 Grant Program: Human Augmentation (Advanced Rehabilitation)

• Overview: The program aims to harness cutting-edge technologies, such as brain science and robotics, to restore the physical functions of individuals with motor limitations to a point where they can independently perform daily activities. In Japan’s super-aged society, physical limitations caused by diseases or sudden accidents directly contribute to a reduced quality of life for affected individuals, while exacerbating severe social issues such as caregivers resigning from the workforce and rising social security costs. The program aims to accelerate the real-world implementation of advanced technologies and raise the overall quality of care across society.
• Project Description & Goals: Focusing primarily on individuals with post-stroke paralysis, this project will evaluate the implementation of an at-home operational model for continuous rehabilitation. Utilizing a portable Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) usable outside medical institutions, the system measures and provides feedback on brain activity. Through this initiative, LIFESCAPES aims to establish a framework that allows patients to continue rehabilitation without relying exclusively on medical facilities or specialized personnel, thereby expanding opportunities for recovery and improving physical function.
