About
The Life You Imagine, Once Again
At LIFESCAPES, we combine cutting-edge Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology developed over a decade at Keio University’s Faculty of Science and Technology (Junichi Ushiba Lab) with deep expertise in rehabilitation and patient care. Together with professionals skilled in product and service development, we create new possibilities in healthcare.
Vision
“Working toward a world where the power of brain plasticity helps overcome paralysis.”
Transforming the brain’s plasticity into the joys of everyday life.
“Happiness lies in the ordinary days.”
The fresh air of a morning, a meal shared with someone(family or friends).”
“From deep within the mind, a thought is born, becoming waves, moving the body.”
Expanding life’s possibilities with technological innovation.
“The term ‘disused hand’ refers to a hand that is assessed as non-functional in everyday activities after a stroke. It is estimated that roughly 30% of stroke patients fall into this category.”
Stroke strikes without warning. Tasks that were possible just yesterday—such as fastening a button or opening a bottle cap—suddenly become impossible. Who could ever imagine such a change? In this era of longevity, where lifespans extend to 100 years, advances in science and technology continue to surpass our expectations, expanding both human potential and daily convenience. Through Brain–Computer Interface (BCI), we aim to harness the brain’s plasticity to help individuals break free from such limitations, and to support each person in shaping the unique landscape of their own life.
Hands are essential links to the world and society, and windows to new possibilities. We hope each person can move forward, wake up feeling refreshed, savor meals with their own hands, and, in a scenic spot, take a deep breath and appreciate the moment.”
“In a world that never stops changing, we harness science and technology to empower people to live their best lives for today and tomorrow.”

*The brain possesses the ability to heal.
Even when damaged by illness or injury, it can form new networks and reorganize functions—a property known as ‘plasticity.’ Through BCI technology, we harness this intrinsic healing power of the brain, contributing to a world where even severe paralysis, can be improved.
*BCI refers to a technology that integrates neuroscience and artificial intelligence.
